Why are We Asking for Donations to Help with Saché's Spay?
Over a year ago, a Good Samaritan begged us to help a dog she had received from her homeless son, who was struggling with substance abuse. He had been given the dog by another homeless individual who had obtained her for one reason only: to use her for breeding and sell her puppies.
That dog was Saché.
We do not know how long she was used as a breeder, or even her exact age. But the damage to her body told us everything we needed to know. She had endured far too many pregnancies at far too young an age, likely while living in conditions no dog should ever experience.
Although we were already at capacity, we took Saché in and later placed her with a woman in Chehalis on what we believed was a peaceful farm home. For a few months, everything seemed perfect. Then we learned the adopter had suffered a mental breakdown. Saché was placed outside in a pig pen, replaced with a younger dog, and even had her collar taken for the new dog. She was given away and dumped twice. Finally, a public deadline was posted for her removal from the pen.
We could not let that be her ending.
Saché was pulled into emergency foster care, and within one week she was adopted by a small, loving family with a two-year-old child. We are in close contact with them and know she is finally safe and cherished.
The last step in her journey is her spay. When we first rescued her, she was too unhealthy for surgery. Now, she is finally strong enough. This Giving Tuesday, our goal is to cover that cost so her life is protected forever.
We are currently at full capacity and cannot take in more animals this holiday season. Any remaining donations after Saché’s spay will help families keep their dogs through food assistance and emergency vet care.
Your gift today protects Saché’s future and helps keep other dogs safe in the homes they already love.
What is Giving Tuesday?
Giving Tuesday began in 2012 and is a special day dedicated to giving back to the causes meaningful to you. Each year, on the Tuesday following USThanksgiving, people all over the world come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity by volunteering and donating.
